Council boost for children in care;In brief

12th March 1999 at 00:00
A FREE pack designed to help improve the education of children in council care has been sent to every local authority in England. It is part of the Equal Chances project launched this week by two voluntary organisations - the Who Cares? Trust and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

The project, backed by government cash, was launched days after a TES survey revealed that almost four in 10 authorities do not know if their children leave school with any qualifications.

Equal Chances encourages councils to adopt a whole authority approach with different departments working closely together.
