Councillors to withdraw objection to partial selection

16th July 1999 at 01:00
Councillors in Hertfordshire are expected to vote on Tuesday to withdraw the authority's objection to partial selection in 21 of its schools. A coalition of Labour and Lib-Dem councillors referred the objection to the adjudicator, but a by-election last month gave power to the Conservative group. Other local authorities from which cases have been referred are Barnet, Bexley, Bromley, Croydon, Derbyshire, Essex, Lancashire, Northamptonshire, Surrey, Torbay and Wandsworth.
