The sounds of wailing and gnashing of teeth in the vicinity of Pollokshields primary in Glasgow can now be revealed. The cacophony is due to teachers attempting to come to terms with the "monitoring and evaluation of classrooms" checklist in the school handbook.

Five categories with a total of 53 sub-sections each require yes, no and comment responses. Staff have been heard remarking that they will not have any time left to do anything else.

Not so much a case of how good is our school but how busy is our heidie.
