Create a masterpiece

Nominated for the BAFTA Interactive Awards earlier this year, the Artisancam website enables teachers and pupils to watch potters, basket weavers and screen printers live, while they work in their studios.

Originally piloted in the north of England, this site, aimed at key stages 2 and 3, gives pupils step-by-step instructions on how to create their own masterpieces in the classroom. A different UK artist is featured each term via a video-conferencing system. For each artist featured the site offers information about the techniques they use, their influences and a gallery of their work as well as a teacher's notes page. The KidZone gives pupils the chance to create artwork online as well as play in the Games Gallery and take part in the Art Quiz.
