Creatures to count on

5th May 2006 at 01:00
The invitation to Be a Maths Wizard comes in the form of 65 sturdy laminated picture cards. Many of them illustrate the meaning of the numbers from 1 to 10 in different categories - land creatures (penguins and zebras), sea creatures (crabs and starfish), methods of transport (helicopters and buses) and fruits (lemons and cherries). Others display the plus and minus signs and a number line. Young children can use them to play games such as snap, challenge their memories, match pairs or solve counting puzzles, while enjoying whatever they do. Be a Maths Wizard costs pound;6.99 from DK.
