Teachers interested in taking school groups to the Edinburgh Book Festival for a National Year of Reading treat should contact Jen Wood at the EBF office, tel 0131 228 5444, as soon as possible - bookings are on a first-come, first-served basis. Top authors this year include J K Rowling (the third instalment of Harry Potter is due out in July), Mairi Hedderwick (for all those Katie Morag fans) and Theresa Breslin (winner of the Carnegie Medal for Whispers in the Graveyard). Writing workshops, poetry readings and story-telling are all on offer. Special reductions are available for secondary school pupils attending sessions in the adult programme. The book festival runs from August 14-30, the schools programme August 23-30.
