Damaging words

THE Government, bereft of ideas to even out the inequalities in the education system, and unable to solve the deep-seated social problems which affect many schools, is now resorting to the cynical strategy of making headteachers the scapegoats.

Mr Clarke's tough talk will have done nothing to encourage the recruitment and retention of staff in schools experiencing difficult circumstances and sadly, it will be the pupils who will suffer.
