Damp weekend for holiday reps:FErret

14th April 2006 at 01:00
I have no idea what a wet T-shirt competition might be - but judging from an FE story that made the tabloids over the weekend, I imagine it's something unsavoury. It is, we are told, one of the things trainee holiday reps learn to organise at City of Bristol college. If this is true - which I suspect it isn't - a far more interesting pair of stories emerged, as it were, from what the college and the holiday firm had to say when they spoke to the paper.

Bizarrely, the college is quoted as saying that "organising pub crawls is just 10 per cent of what a rep does". Just 10 per cent?

And the holiday firm, no doubt anxious to stem a tide of moral outrage about the ghastly wet T-shirt business, admitted that worse things happen.

"Someone could die, people get raped. Okay, it doesn't happen often but you have to be prepared."
