Dancing queens

THANK you for the music department: The CLEA Choir is back by popular demand after going AWOL at the local education authorities conference in July.

Led by choirmaster Chris Waterman of the Society of Education Officers - the world's least busy general secretary, still engaged on a quest for a purple phone fr Carol Adams - they will perform a glittering tribute to Abba at the Local Government Association's annual education conference in November.

Councillors were distraught at their absence in July, Chris claims. Mamma Mia! The Diary will avoid this one at all costs. But will Australia be far enough?
