Dangers lurk in classrooms

The Health and Safety Executive and three local education authorities (Sheffield, Trafford and Glasgow) have produced posters and a leaflet to raise awareness of classroom safety. In the past six years there have been five deaths and more than 3,000 injuries in schools. The leaflet cites a teacher falling off a chair while putting material in a cupboard; a teacher standing on a bookcase and falling; and an assistant falling off a stool placed too close to a window.
