Daring Dearing to relax the rules

In your coverage of the Dearing Review, it is reported that the Headmasters' Conference argued that Sir Ron should "launch overall 'synoptic' assessment for modular A-levels".

Far from it. We have suggested that modular schemes assess A-level subjects very thoroughly, and have argued for some relaxation of the current rules governing synoptic assessment in such schemes.
