Police, fire brigade and ambulance were all summoned to a Derbyshire school to cut a pupil free from the wreckage of a car.
Then, shortly after Tom Taylor was pronounced dead on impact, he stood up and rejoined fellow Year 11 pupils at Kirk Hallam Technology College, for the rest of the road safety demonstration.
Tom's accident was part of an education programme intended to reduce the number of road deaths among children and teenagers.
Police collision investigator Richard Bell told pupils that 18 per cent of new drivers are involved in a crash within a year of passing their tests and such accidents were often the result of speeding, over-confidence and inexperience. ab.
