Directorate leads to the top

East Dunbartonshire has appointed Sue Bruce, its strategic director whose responsibilities include education, as its new chief executive. Mrs Bruce, previously depute director of education in East Ayrshire, joins the ranks of a relative few to reach the top from the education directorate. The others are Douglas Paterson in Aberdeen, Sandy Watson in Angus and David Montgomery in East Ayrshire.
