St Ninian's High and Kirkintilloch High in East Dunbartonshire staged the latest event in their joint two-year anti-sectarianism initiative last week with a performance of I'm not a billy, I'm a tim!!! by Simon Weir, the actor from Take the High Road and his company of Thespians, Dapper Productions.

The joint seminar, "Respect for Difference in Kirkintilloch", is aimed at S2. Personal and social education and English teachers took part in joint in-service training, using the SEED-endorsed workshops for schools produced by Dapper Productions.

The schools have been nominated for the Scottish Education Awards for their anti-sectarian work. This has included a large crime prevention day for S3 in partnership with Strathclyde Police and Fire Fighting Services, the Lowmoss Prison Service, the NHS and the Procurator Fiscal's Department, where one of the learning outcomes was the futility of sectarianism.

The schools have embarked on joint curricular activities, including the joint planning of PSE lessons, using the anti-sectarian website "Don't Give It, Don't Take It", essay and poetry writing, peer mentoring, cross-marking of essay work, joint award ceremonies, an S5 joint art after-school project which is showcased at primary cluster schools, and joint delivery by Strathclyde Police on the "Knife City Experience".
