DVD-writer compatibility

5th November 2004 at 00:00
* The issue of DVD-writer compatibility looks set to run and run. There are five recordable DVD formats (DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+RW and DVD+R) and we're going to have to live with them for the forseeable future. As a result, most DVD drives are multi-format. Hitachi is launching its DV-RX7000 DVD writer this autumn. It can use DVD-RAM, DVD-RW and DVD-R discs and also read CD-R discs encoded with JPEGs and MP3s.
