e-Learning Foundation appoints first chief

Valerie Thompson has been appointed as the first CEO of the new national e-Learning Foundation, which aims to help every pupil obtain a portable device such as a laptop or Palm Pilot. She had run Business Link London Central for six years andperformed several marketing roles previously. Professor Henry Beker, who set up the foundation, said Ms Thompson's skills, experience and drive would give the nascent venture a "tremendous start".
