"Top marks for Eaglesham" stated the press release from East Renfrewshire Council. This was startling news indeed as we wondered what had caused Scotland's top authority to begin a love fest with the general secretary of the Scottish Secondary Teachers' Association.

On closer inspection, we realised the council was telling the world that one of its schools, Eaglesham primary, had come through its inspection with flying colours.
