E.coli guide sent out

18th November 2005 at 00:00
The chief medical officer for Wales is to send out new guidelines to schools on how to handle any future E.coli outbreaks. The advice comes as the outbreak control team closed St David's Church in Wales primary school in Colwinston, Vale of Glamorgan, earlier this week after a six-year-old girl contracted the bug. It followed the closure of the Puffins nursery in Brecon, also earlier this week. When TES Cymru went to press this week the total number of E.coli cases reported in Wales had risen slightly to 168 - five more than a week ago. The new cases are not thought to be linked to the outbreak which swept through Valley schools in September.
