This is an edited transcript of the proceedings held in Edinburgh last month

This is an edited transcript of the proceedings held in Edinburgh last month, the last of five education conversations to mark the 40th anniversary of The TES Scotland.

Participants discussed the fifth theme of the Scottish Executive's Ambitious, Excellent Schools blueprint: "systems of tough, intelligent accountability that foster ambition and allow proper, informed public scrutiny".

We hope these discussions will challenge received wisdom about what should be going on in schools and stimulate fresh thinking.
