Education's last rites

FOR despite all its attachment in triplicate to education, the Government is viscerally hostile to the only way to raise standards: to have fewer, not more pupils following the academic pahway. The result is that far from the improvements they so vaingloriously trumpet, they are, in fact, administering the death rites to Britain as an educated country.
