Enterprise - Ears to a top fizzy drink

26th November 2010 at 00:00

Pupils from Strathaven Academy in South Lanarkshire have won an enterprise competition by designing a fizzy drink.

The Determined to Succeed Coca-Cola Real Business Challenge began three months ago when teams from all over Scotland were given an initial enterprise and design challenge. The top 10 were then shortlisted as finalists.

Earlier this month, finalists from across Scotland went to Stirling Management Centre to prepare a sample of their drink, a prototype container and a pitch to judges. They were marked on research, design, finances, creativity and teamwork.

Strathaven Academy's winning team, Arkitek Enterprises, created a fruit drink aimed at young people attending music festivals, called "Blast n Berry". It consisted of two cartons, each with a different fruit drink, attached to a headband and made to look like earphones.

Team members were Hannah Stobo, 14, Katie Wilson, 14, Megan Murphy, 13, Ellie Bather, 13, Euan Clark, 14 and Calum Sterritt, 14. They go through to the UK final in London on January 19 to compete against six other teams.
