Enterprising Frizzell gets out of jail;In brief

The civil service leadership of the departments responsible for education is complete with the announcement that Edward Frizzell is to be head of the enterprise and lifelong learning department. John Elvidge was recently appointed to lead the school-age education department. Mr Frizzell, aged 53, is chief executive of the Scottish Prison Service, but he has served in several Scottish Office departments, including a period as head of the higher education division.
