A story of our times from the west. We learn that 70 per cent of the pupils attending a West Dunbartonshire comprehensive, not a million miles from Clydebank, receive clothing allowances.

This term, however, the school has been forced to introduce a new rule forbidding mobile phones. Apparently the practice was to ring up their friends in other classes - presumably not those wearing subsidised gear.
