It is an interesting fact that this year is the first in which none of the new boys at Eton got in by the traditional procedure of parents signing them up when they were born. We contacted the school to confirm the milestone.

Diary: "Is it true that this is the first year that none of the children was put down at birth?" Etonian member of staff: "Huh, with some of them you can't help thinking they should have been."
