An exhibition of photographs of London schools taken by Fred Jarvis, former National Union of Teachers general secretary, opens on Wednesday at the Royal Festival Hall. The exhibition, entitled London's future - the spirit of its schools, is part of the London Challenge, set up to address problems in the capital's schools.

"It was an uplifting experience," said Mr Jarvis, who visited 29 schools.
