Experts pass on truancy tips

Skiving pupils as young as 11 are being recruited onto a series of panels set up to combat truancy. Their experience will be passed onto the Government's social exclusion unit in its bid to find a solution to the problem.

It is estimated that up to 10 per cent of pupils truant at some point during their school careers.
