Facts about ATL membership

28th April 2006 at 01:00
I would like to clarify the ATL's membership costs ("Unions: the facts", TES, April 7). NQTs are eligible for free membership from the date of joining until the end of their first year teaching - which could be up to 18 months from joining the ATL.

Membership for the second year of teaching is half price. Student teachers can join for free for the duration of their course, whether it is a one-year PGCE or a four-year BEd Hons.
