Fancy that

This business of newspaper exclusives is getting a bit out of hand. There was a fascinating scoop in last Tuesday's Herald announcing pressure from Catholic educationists for a special dimension to the Scottish Qualification for Headship - almost as exciting a read as the same exclusive in our issue of May 5.

The Scotsman ran another last week on a "secret plan" t close 40 primaries in Glasgow - another riveting read but not quite as adrenalin-pumping as our UK exclusive on May 7 last century.

The Sunday Times informed us a couple of weeks ago that state schools were to employ bursars - yet who can forget our stunning world exclusive to that effect last November?

It's a hard life keeping ahead of the game.
