FE to be e-linked

29th September 2000 at 01:00
ALL FE COLLEGES should be linked electronically in "metropolitan area networks" such as the Glasgow Tele-Colleges Network by April next year, ministers have agreed. This is part of their response to the recommendations of the Digital Scotland taskforce, which points out that all universities have MAN links.

The Scottish Execuive has also asked the funding councils for further and higher education to stimulate research into how information and communications technology can assist learning, develop new learning environments, stimulate educational content and advance teacher training. It expects progress reports from the councils twice a year.
