The number of students on primary initial teacher training courses fell by 3 per cent and on secondary courses by 6 per cent between 1995-97, the Scottish Office revealed last week. The number of full-time students in higher education has risen by eight per cent since 1995, while part-time HE students increased by 18 per cent.
