Fifth title for novel speed-reader

7th September 2001 at 01:00
A 49-year-old English teacher has found a novel way of breaking the speed limit. Anne Jones - who teaches at Burleigh Community College, in Loughborough, Leicestershire - has just become Britain's speed-reading champion for the fifth year running. To win the title, the mother-of-three read a 46,000-word, 205-page novel in just under 21 minutes. The moment she had finished she was asked 20 questions on the novel. She answered 12 of them correctly at the Mind Sports Olympiad, in London.
