Football scores with children;Letter

I READ with interest the article by Laurence Alster (Going Places magazine, September 24) on Premiership football club tours.

It may interest teachers to know that many football clubs across the league run a "Learning through Football" programme.

Sunderland's, which started in 1991 at our old ground - Roker Park - has continued to flourish at the new Stadium of Light. It caters for children and young people from reception age through to post-16.

We offer full-day visits that include cross-curricula activities including numeracy, literacy, design, GCSE subjects and a range of activities for GNVQ students.

Any school that would like to visit their local football ground should contact the club's community department.
