FIRST SPORTS SCIENCE SERIES. On a Bike, In the Park, In the Snow, In the Water, In the Gym, On the Sports Field. By Nikki Bundey. Zo Books pound;8.50 each.

If you plan to put science into wider contexts, and your pupils are interested in sport, this series will be useful.

Sports science gives great opportunities for looking at forces and the body. Basic concepts are attractively presented with text for key stages 1 and 2. New terms are highlighted and defined in a comprehensive glossary. The books are indexed, with a clear contents page. Pictures are helpfully captioned and well-chosen, although ethnic minorities are under-represented.
