Friday hero

Wendy Thompson and Angela Valuks are two sisters employed as learning support assistants at Wiveliscombe primary school in Somerset.

Since January they have shared the care of a Year 1 boy with Asperger syndrome who'd been temporarily excluded for disruptive behaviour. According to headteacher Tony Halstead, in one term Wendy and Angela have transformed things. Involvement with the boy's family pls the sisters' great sense of humour and hard work have played a big part. "I am amazed and grateful for their dedication," says Mr Halstead.
