Friday hero

7th July 2000 at 01:00
Bridie Dillon, long-standing lollipop lady at Emmanuel school, West Hampstead, north London, is retiring aged 80

Bridie is a living legend on this particular stretch of Mill Lane, north London. According to headteacher Dee Mansi, the central reservation is a mass of cards and presents at Christmas. Today, her devotion to duty and cheerful help will be acknowledged at the scool's confirmation service, when the bishop of Edmonton will help teachers and children say a fond farewell.

Please send the name of your Friday Hero - and why he or she should get a bouquet - to Sarah Bayliss, Friday, The TES, Admiral House, 66-68 East Smithfield, London E1W 1BX, or e-mail sarah.bayliss@tes.co.uk. Flowers kindly supplied by Marks amp; Spencer.
