THIS IS why students fight to get into Oxford. St Hugh's is putting 60 students up in hotels because its new accommodation block isn't ready yet. Some are staying in the Moat Hotel in Wolvercote where twin rooms cost pound;120 a night.

Diary remembers a similar thing happening at Portsmouth University a few years back. Except the students there ended up in naval barracks...
