It is somewhat contradictory and confusing that, while schools are expected to deliver a curriculum and develop skills appropriate for the 21st century, those charged with the responsibility for ensuring that this happens in our schools - namely, Nick Tate and Chris Woodhead - are constantly entreating us to return to the past.
