Get away to ... The Far East

16th May 2003 at 01:00
Imagine learning how to cook Pad Thai in a mango grove outside Bangkok. Audley Travel runs a week's cookery holiday providing an introduction to three countries - Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia - and their cuisines.

At Thai House, travellers will make and taste dishes such as Tom Yam gung (hot-sour prawn soup) and Kaeng ka-ri kai (yellow chicken curry). Bike around Bangkok or take a trip along a klong (canal) before moving on to Saigon and another open-air lesson. And take a rickshaw ride through the whirling traffic to a market.

The final stop, in Cambodia, promises half a day learning about Khmer cuisine as well as a trip to the ancient temples at Angkor Wat.

The price of pound;895 per person (based on two sharing) includes return flights from Bangkok to Siem Reap, transfers, cookery classes, sightseeing in Angkor with private guide, four-star bed and breakfastaccommodation, but not flights from the UK (which can be arranged by the company) or visas.
