Gloucestershire - Sports triumph for fundraisers

2nd July 2010 at 01:00

Pupils and staff are celebrating the end of a 15-year campaign to get sports facilities in their school.

The Cotswold School in Bourton-on-the-Water has raised #163;1.5 million to build the centre, which has a pool, gym, Astropitch and sports hall. It was opened last week by former England cricket captain Mike Gatting.

Head Anne Holland said: "This is an exciting development and we are so proud to have raised every penny of the #163;1.5m ourselves. Children will no longer have to play sport in the rain - that's fine for rugby and hockey, but not if you want to do gym work. We think we've now got some of the best facilities in the country." KM.
