Go compare - but only with current data

23rd September 2011 at 01:00

Having just spent my Sunday morning browsing through my "new" TES - which I have enjoyed, but it will take a few weeks to find my way around and locate my favourites - I thought I would go to the new Department for Education website of school data ("Five million things to know about schools", 16 September) and see how my school compares to other middle schools in Redditch.

It took a few goes, but I got there in the end. I selected my own school and four others within the town. I didn't get past the first page without a snort of derision. Of the five schools selected, four, including mine, had the name of the headteacher who had retired - three of them over three years ago.

I wonder what other out-of-date data they are using?
