All you need to know about being a school governor can be found on the National Governors' Council stand. The independent organisation was formed in 1994 and represents 150,000 governors. As well as working with governmental organisations such as the Department for Education and Skills and Ofsted, the council provides advice and assistance for setting up new governor associations, information on becoming a governor, support for new governors and guidance to headteachers and governors.
