Great Expectations

26th May 2000 at 01:00
Great Expectations has inspired films, radio and TV series, and even comic strips. Northern Ballet Theatre is touring the UK this summer and autumn with a version danced to Elgar's music. Its information pack contains evocative A4 colour pictures and a set of interviews that explore the vision of the artistic director, the orchestrator and the production designer, and the experiences of the dances who become Estella, Pip, Mrs Joe and Miss Havisham. While these will make most sense to those who see the performance, there are also happy insights into Dickens's inexhaustible imagination.
