Head for naval figures

6th May 2005 at 01:00
In conjunction with the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, the Sea and Learn website provides information about Lord Nelson including a timeline of his life, facts about his family and HMS Victory.

Also on the site is a range of lesson plans for key stages 1 to 4 and links to websites about the Trafalgar bicentenary. Visit the site for details of the Trafalgar 200 figurehead competition, which invites pupils, aged eight to 14, to design and make a ship figurehead. The 10 winning entries will be displayed at the International Festival of the Sea at the end of June and the overall winner in Portsmouth after the final. The deadline is May 27.
