Head rides to Fresh Start rescue

PETER Clark, the headteacher who led the rescue effort at the Ridings school in Halifax, has been called in to help save East Brighton College, one of the Government's high-profile Fresh Start schools. Mr Clark was asked to carry out a survey of management and leadership standards, after its socalled superhead, Tony Garwood, announced he was stepping down. His job is advertised in today's TES, on a salary scale of pound;65,592 to pound;75,972. Brighton and Hove council is looking for a "motivating community leader, an inspirer of pupils, staff and parents, and an experienced head".
