Heaven Sent

There appears to be a little local difficulty at the Western Isles Council's flagship school, the Nicolson Institute in Stornoway. Nobody wants the top job - or at least nobody the council wants to appoint - and the rector's post is being readvertised.

We think we have unearthed the reason. The Free Church of Scotland's Monthly Record insists that the successful candidate must be "of God's choosing". It urges the community to pray.

Clearly, communication is therefore taking a bit longer than normal, and the school will just have to be patient.
