Hen pecked

See Praise, See Govan High. Iain White, the heidie, has been at the forefront of introducing a praise culture within the school and it seems to be rubbing off on the parents and community.

At the school prize-giving last week, Jack and Norma Black from the Mindstore organisation were presenting the accolades. As a prelude, Norma Black told the audience that, in her first go at O-levels, she had failed miserably, but she stuck in and got her just rewards the following year.

Her confession was greeted by a cry from the audience of "good for you, Norma hen". Even the hecklers now accentuate the positive.
