On the home front

22nd October 2004 at 01:00
Far From Home is Christian Aid's latest resource for key stages 2 and 3. By telling the story of a girl whose family flee the dictatorship in Burma to begin a new life in Thailand, it presents a theme that schools might like to explore at Christmas, recalling another family of refugees. Outlines for two thought-provoking assemblies are supplemented with ideas for classroom work. Pupils could discuss the meaning of the word "home", face the problem of packing essential items in three minutes, or address critically the treatment of asylum seekers in the media.
