The road to Mecca

The British Museum's series on spiritual journeys concludes with Hajj: journey to the heart of Islam, a major exhibition running until 15 April and hosted in partnership with the King Abdulaziz Public Library in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. There are exclusive dates for school visits and a teachers' view on 30 January.

Free workshops will enrich visits for Years 5 and 6 and secondary pupils. Interactive primary workshops will take pupils through the journey and the meaning of pilgrimage and introduce the significance of sacred places, while secondary pupils can use mobile technology to explore the exhibition and the importance of Hajj to the Islamic faith.

The exhibition is composed of three strands: the pilgrim's journey, Hajj today and Mecca.

Teachers' resources and bookings are now available online.
