GetJar reveals its top free apps

Open app store GetJar has compiled a list of five of the best free educational apps available on its store. They are: the Collins English dictionary and thesaurus; a scientific calculator that can handle sums involving trigonometry, degrees and algebra; a school timetable; a mobile tutor to test and improve skills in subjects including English, geography and maths; and a periodic table. Practical tips for tech teachers

Naace, the association for ICT teachers, is running a one-day course on how technology can improve learning and achievement. The practical session will cover topics including assessing the effect of ICT and quantifying evidence of impact. From speakers to Tweeters

An organisation that aims to bring speakers into schools has launched a Twitter feed. In2schools aims to match schools with outreach providers, delivering workshops, guest speakers and after-school clubs, as well as continuing profesional development for teachers, and now posts updates on Twitter.
