'Illiterate' Scotland

A stinging attack on the teaching of Scottish history has come from Tom Devine, the noted historian. In a lecture at Dornoch last Friday, hosted by the University of the Highlands and Islands Millennium Institute, Professor Devine described Scotland as "historically illiterate, partly because of the malfunctioning of teaching the nation's past in schools".
